JOIN OUR TEAM!
The Animal Rescue Network functions entirely on a voluntary basis, as it receives no governmental subvention.

We need more people in our teams, for the following tasks:
  • Emergencies: Set up an emergency team for unplanned vet visits, when a cat is sick, to ensure quick transportation of the cat to the vet.
  • Cleaning: Cleaning of the shelter (cat litter, floors, feeding, changing water), and giving loving care to the cats
  • Finances: Ensure all cheques are deposited, bills are paid, government forms are completed, and general accounting.
  • Adoptions/Fostering: Facilitate individual adoption visits and adoption days, held each weekend in Montreal, at various stores, and at the shelter.
  • Meds/Vets (Healthcare): Give medication to cats, and check the health of each animal in the shelter. Coordinate trips to vets for animals who are sick, for vaccinations, sterilizations, etc.
  • Transportation: Help with transportation for various functions (example: cats to vet, cats to adoption days, food/litter for shelter, items for fundraising events).
  • Shelter: Ensure the shelter itself has all the supplies needed, for example food, litter, and general shelter supplies. Carpentry, painting and electrical installation are also part of the job of the "shelter group".
  • Recruiting: Assist in the attempts to find new volunteers as well as helping to answer calls from potential new volunteers, informing them about the ARN, and placing them in the appropriate team. In addition, recruitment team members are coordinating a new volunteer orientation manual.
  • Communications: Handle and coordinate general publicity for the ARN as well as publicity for specific events; translation of the ARN website and all ARN internal & external communications; writing articles for the newsletters; and placing ads in the streets.
  • Fundraising: Participate in fundraising events, such as bazaars, hot dog days, etc. Ensure there is follow-through on fundraising initiatives.
We require 3-4 hours of volunteer work per week, either morning or evening.

The shelter is closed otherwise.

We especially need cleaning and meds team volunteers.

The shelter houses over 250 adult cats with dogs and kittens elsewhere.

Training is provided.

We reserve the right to request 2 character references (not from family members) before giving out the address of the shelter which is confidential for security reasons.
